Severe Damage & Death

Since everyone will be starting at first level, and 1st Ed AD&D has some rather deadly rules (roll vs poison or die), you should expect that not everyone will come back alive from adventures. Characters who hit zero hitpoints or less will continue to lose 1hp/round until assistance is given (binding wounds, etc). Characters who reach -10 are dead. Characters who hit zero or less hitpoints and are then revived will remain in a coma for a period of time, and after they awake they'll need a considerable stay (approx 1 week) of bed rest to recover, even if they have been healed to full health. Until this recovery period is complete, they cannot fight, cast spells, or do anything except walk slowly or possibly ride a gentle horse.

Characters who are really dead can be potentially raised if taken to a high level cleric in time, and a suitably large donation made to the cleric's temple/church. To raise a character, a resurrection survival roll will need to be made (this depends upon your constitution), otherwise your character is permanently dead. Characters that are raised will permanently lose a point of Con, and will also require a period of bed rest to recover.

If your character dies, then I'm happy for his/her equipment to be "willed" to a freshly rolled new character. Your equipment may not be willed to another one of your existing characters.
