Hommlet
From ToEE
The Village of Hommlet is the town in which your adventurers first arrived to seek their fortune. In their first adventure they returned a silver signet ring to Farmer Jarrod, who was raided by goblins.
You have discovered the following services in the village of Hommlet:
- Money Changer
- Inn Of The Welcome Wench
- The Hommlet Smithy
- The Hommlet Trading Post
- The Druid
- The Church of St. Cuthbert
- The Hommlet Cemetery
- The Hommlet castle
You can travel from Hommlet to the following destinations. Note that these are assuming only moderate encumbrance (10"), or a lightly laden and fast steed (24").
| Destination | Distance | Travel Time (Foot, 10") | Travel Time (Light Horse, 24") | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Goblin Caves | 1 league | 2 hours | 1 hours | Cleared and barred. |
| Verbobonc | 20 leagues | 6 days | 2.5 days | Nearest major city. |
| Nulb | 8 leagues | 2.5 days | 1 day | Shady village to the northeast. |
| Ruined Moathouse | 1 league | 2 hours | 1 hour | Former outpost of evil in swampy ground. Travel time takes twice that listed for the first trip, as hacking and clearing is required to make the way passable. |
| AstegGnomeHalls | ??? | 1 day (2 days with bath-tubs) | 1/2 day | The former home of the cousin of the gnome you recently rescued. Now reportedly filled with evil beings. |
For those unfamiliar with imperial measurements, one league is three miles. Note that draft horses do not provide an increase in speed. Ponies only provide an increase if lightly loaded with a short person (halfling or dwarf).
Note: The distances and times above are probably wrong, as they're based upon an incorrect assumption of an "inch". The DMG states an inch is the number of miles a character can travel in one half-day. The WSG clarifies one "half-day" of travel as being eight hours (ie, one third of a day, or one half of a waking day), but then goes on to increase general movement speed for lightly encumbered characters, and redo Encumbrance in a more sane manner. I'll fix these when I get a chance -- PaulFenwick
